On July 31, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America Elizabeth Rood, who presented copies of her credentials, held a meeting in Ashgabat, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reported.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs congratulated the diplomat on her appointment to this post and wished her every success in her future activities.
The interlocutors emphasised the traditionally friendly nature of bilateral relations.
The talks focused on the prospects for enhancing trade, economic, political and diplomatic cooperation. The interlocutors discussed the implementation of the ongoing and future cultural and humanitarian projects.
Elizabeth Rood succeeded Matthew Klimow who has served as the US Ambassador to Turkmenistan since 2019.
Klimow, who completed his diplomatic mission in the country, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs in June. The interlocutors exchanged views on priority aspects of bilateral cooperation.
