In Kazakhstan, work is underway to compensate for damage to small and medium-sized businesses affected by the floods in 2024. The press office of the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic reports on the current situation.
According to Order No. 18 of Minister of National Economy, Deputy Prime Minister Nurlan Baibazarov dated April 22, 2024, local executive bodies receive and process the applications for compensation for property damage.
12.1 billion tenge from the state reserves were allocated for these purposes. As of July 30, 2024, 455 applications totalling 9.3 billion tenge were received from SMEs. Of these, 374 applications (82.1%) totalling over 5.8 billion tenge were approved. The payments totalling 2.2 billion tenge under 222 applications were made. The largest number of applications were approved in Atyrau Region — 215 applications for 2.1 billion tenge.
Retail and catering facilities, recreation centres and hotels suffered extensive damage.
«Of the approved applications, more than 70% are stores, trading houses and markets, about 4% are catering facilities, 4% are manufacturing and food production facilities, about 3% are hotels, recreation centres and other business facilities,» press office of the Ministry of National Economy reports.
It is planned to make complete payments under the remaining applications by late August this year.
