Olzhas Bektenov draws attention to taxi drivers and shepherds

Speaking at the government meeting, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov said taxi drivers often do not follow traffic rules.

On July 30, speaking at the government meeting, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov said taxi drivers often do not follow traffic rules. According to the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, this is one of the leading causes of car accidents, Zakon.kz reports.

The Ministry of Transport and the Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs were instructed to regulate the activities of private taxis, particularly on intercity routes. The akimats of the regions were instructed to take measures to improve road infrastructure.

«Our work with owners of domestic animals regarding grazing near highways needs to be enhanced,» Bektenov added.

The Prime Minister instructed that detailed analysis of accident rates by region be conducted and road traffic management on dangerous sections be improved.

The ministries of education, tourism and sports and akimats were instructed to ensure that police officers perform duties during the events involving students.
