Head of the Information Policy Department of the President’s Administration of Kyrgyzstan Dayyrbek Orunbekov commented on Russian journalist Tina Kandelaki’s accusations of Russophobia after the demolition of the Panfilov Division Museum in Bishkek, RBC reports.
He stated that the decision to demolish was based on a thorough analysis of the current condition of the building that has signs of fire, leaks and cracks and no longer complies with seismic building standards, posing a threat to people’s lives. Orunbekov said it was already impossible to restore the building.
He said the accusations against the Government and Parliament of Kyrgyzstan are unfair and unfounded, noting that such statements are offensive to history and destructive to strategic partnerships between the Republic and Russia. He emphasised that the accusations of Russophobia are groundless and absurd.
Orunbekov emphasised that Kyrgyzstan considers it important to perpetuate the Panfilov Division in commemoration of the ancestors who died defending Moscow. He emphasised that this very sensitive issue calls for respect. In conclusion, he invited Kandelaki to visit Kyrgyzstan.
