Kazakhstan and Austria discuss combating human trafficking

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alibek Bakaev led the delegation of the Republic at the talks in Vienna.

On July 17, Kazakhstan-Austria consular consultations took place in Vienna, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan reports. The delegation of Kazakhstan was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alibek Bakaev, and the Austrian side was represented by Section Head Consular Affairs of the Austrian Foreign Ministry Georg Stillfried.

They discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral consular cooperation.

«The prospects of cooperation between the two countries in migration and the fight against human trafficking were discussed,» the press office reported on one of the issues under discussion.

The interlocutors exchanged views on the draft intergovernmental agreements on a visa-free regime for diplomatic passport holders and readmitted persons.

They discussed simplifying the EU visa regime for citizens of Kazakhstan. The Kazakh delegation expressed hope that Austria would assist in initiating official talks between Kazakhstan and the European Union. In conclusion, the interlocutors confirmed that they are ready to further enhance consular relations.
