President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin in Astana. The press office of the President of Kazakhstan reports that Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev thanked Putin for participating in the SCO Summit and noted Russia’s significant contribution to strengthening the «Shanghai spirit».
«Certainly, I cannot help but note Russia’s enormous contribution to strengthening the SCO’s potential. As Chairman, I would like to express my gratitude to you in this regard,» Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev said.
It was emphasised that the Chairmanship in the SCO is an honourable and responsible mission. Tokayev noted that the reform of the Organisation continues, and the SCO has gained the necessary authority in the international arena, being one of the most successful and democratic international organisations.
Discussing Kazakhstan-Russia relations, the President of Kazakhstan emphasised that bilateral cooperation is developing more actively after Putin’s historic visit to Kazakhstan.
The two leaders discussed the prospects of industrial cooperation, partnerships in the energy sector and interregional relations. The determination to maintain political dialogue in bilateral and multilateral formats was confirmed.
