President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting via videoconference on the measures to make energy use more efficient and ensure reliable operation of power facilities during the autumn and winter months. The meeting took place on June 10. The President ordered about 1,000 social facilities be prepared for the cold season, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported.
He expressed concern about the slowdown in the green energy transition at some industrial enterprises and insufficient energy use. In several regions, the authorities plan to save 750 million kilowatts of electricity and 550 million cubic metres of gas.
«Energy savings should be achieved by reducing losses and using energy-saving technologies,» Mirziyoyev said.
The President instructed the Deputy Prime Minister and the First Deputy Minister of Construction to set strict energy efficiency standards for new social facilities next year. He said over 1,000 social facilities, including kindergartens, hospitals, schools and boarding schools, need to be prepared for the autumn and winter. This task must be fulfilled by October 1.
