Participation in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) can help strengthen ties between Tajikistan and neighbouring countries. This statement was made by Chairman of the Tajikistan-Russia Business Council Muhammad Surkhov in an interview with Sputnik.
Surkhov noted that the Tajik delegation is now participating in the forum that, among other things, deals with migration issues.
In his opinion, given the presence of the government officials from Afghanistan, SPIEF could be an excellent opportunity to discuss informally the situation in this country with other representatives of the region.
Surkhov emphasised that the forum provides ample opportunities to foster dialogue on mutually beneficial terms. He said it is important for Tajikistan and other neighbouring countries that peace and stability in Afghanistan are maintained.
