Kazakhstan to build over 10,000 places in hostels this year

Deputy Prime Minister Tamara Duysenova emphasised the importance of making the most of the construction season.

The issue of providing college and university students with places in hostels was discussed during the meeting of the Government of Kazakhstan chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Tamara Duysenova, the press office of the Government of Kazakhstan reported.

Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education Talgat Yeshenkulov said 27 student hostels with 10,576 places are to be put into operation by the end of 2024, of which 19 hostels are intended for university students and 8 hostels — for college students. He reported that construction and reconstruction work on most buildings is over 75% complete and on 3 hostels is about 50% complete. The deputy akims assured that the work would be completed in compliance with construction schedule.

«We need to make the most of the construction season. The Ministries jointly with the regional akimats must continuously monitor compliance of ongoing construction and reconstruction work with schedule and quality requirements,» Tamara Duysenova emphasised.

Last year, 43 hostels with 10,304 places were put into operation.
