The Kyrgyz delegation is taking part in the UN Climate Change Conference in Bonn, Germany. It is headed by the President’s Special Representative for implementation of the Five Years of Action for Development of Mountain Regions. Over 6,700 representatives from 190 countries are attending the event, the press office of the President of Kyrgyzstan reported.
Dinara Kemelova emphasised that Kyrgyzstan attaches great importance to combating climate change and made a presentation on the Republic’s efforts in this area. She raised the issue of the Global Dialogue on Mountains and Climate Change under the UNFCCC, proposing making it an annual event.
She urged to join efforts to address the increasing impacts of climate change in mountain regions and support mountain initiatives.
Discussions at the Bonn Climate Conference focus on solutions to climate change, climate finance, the establishment of a loss and damage fund and other climate change topics. This event lays the groundwork ahead of the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate, scheduled to take place in Azerbaijan in November.
