Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov headed the Turkmen delegation that participated in the Central Asia-Italy Ministerial Meeting, which was held in Rome on May 29, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reported.
The foreign ministers from other Central Asian states and the European Union officials took part in the meeting. The agenda covered issues of interstate political interaction, in particular regional and global security.
Speaking at the meeting, Rashid Meredov emphasised the role of the status of neutrality of Turkmenistan as a tool for promoting peace and stability. The Minister of Foreign Affairs dwelt on regional security, ecology, transport, water resources management, transitional energy and cultural and humanitarian exchange.
The meeting comprised the thematic sessions «Energy Transition and Global Challenges», «Connectivity» and «Higher Education and Knowledge Networks». Following the meeting, the parties agreed to develop the Central Asia-Italy medium-term cooperation plan.
