According to the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Kazakhstan, as of May 1, 2024, 13,733 foreign citizens are officially employed in the country, the press office of the Ministry reports.
According to the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, headed by Svetlana Zhakupova, such sectors as construction (30.7%), agriculture, forestry and fisheries (12.2%) and administrative and support services (12%) are most popular among foreign employees.
The top origin countries are China, Uzbekistan, India and Turkey, providing 29,5%, 13,2%, 8,6% and 7,7% of migrant workers respectively.
Furthermore, a foreign employee quota is set annually to protect the domestic labour market. In 2024, the foreign employee quota stands at 0,23%, or 22,000 people.
