A group of young people who had entered and rioted in a hostel for foreign students in Kyrgyzstan were detained by the police, Vesti.kg reports.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic, on May 18, the unknown offenders burst into the residential complex where foreign students lived. They broke down the doors and attacked the residents for no apparent reason. Even law enforcement officers failed to immediately stop the chaos.
Criminal charges of mob violence and hooliganism have been initiated. Currently, 2 offenders aged 21 and 25 are in custody, and 10 people have been charged. The investigation continues to find all those involved in the incident.
As was reported, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Edil Baysalov met with 18 university rectors of the country. They discussed the incidents and clashes which had broken out at the hostel for foreign students. It was noted that all the victims will receive financial compensation.
