Uzbekistan and Qatar sign 15 bilateral agreements

Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani arrived in Uzbekistan for a state visit.

On June 6, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani held talks at the Congress Centre in Samarkand, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reports.

Following the high-level talks, 15 bilateral documents aimed at boosting and deepening Uzbekistan-Qatar cooperation in the trade, economic, investment, cultural, humanitarian and other sectors were signed in the presence of the leaders of the two countries.

Among other documents, the parties signed the programmes of cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and the Ministries of Justice for 2023-2025 and an agreement on a joint financing platform for priority investment projects.

The parties expressed readiness to support efforts aimed at enhancing cultural, educational and tourist exchanges, including through holding joint weeks of culture, concerts, exhibitions and handicraft and culinary exhibitions. They noted that the launch of regular flights between the capitals of the two countries would contribute to enhancing business contacts and increasing mutual tourist arrivals.
