Mirziyoyev proposes strengthening Central Asia-EU ties

The President of Uzbekistan put forward the initiatives at the Second Central Asian-EU Summit.

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in the Second Summit of Central Asia and the European Union. In his speech, he put forward the initiatives to expand interregional cooperation, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported to CentralAsia.news.

Mirziyoyev called on to expand preferential customs tariffs for goods exported by developing countries to the EU and combine efforts to create the Trans-Caspian transit corridor, in particular to set business-friendly tariffs.

The President urged to develop transport, logistics and port infrastructures. He suggested holding annual industrial and technology exhibitions on the sidelines of the Central Asia-European Union Economic Forum, developing a Digital Agenda for Central Asia and expanding joint efforts to combat climate change and promote tourism and education in Central Asia.

The President of Uzbekistan put forward an initiative to hold a conference «Central Asia — the European Union: a new agenda for security cooperation».
