Turkmenistan and Finland to expand mutually beneficial cooperation

Political consultations were held at the diplomatic department of the Central Asian country.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Vepa Hajiyev received Maria Elina Liivala, the Director General of the Department for Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia of the MFA of Finland. They discussed aspects of expanding mutually beneficial cooperation. It was reported to CentralAsia.news by the press office of the Turkmen department.

During the meeting, it was noted that Ashgabat and Helsinki are interested in strengthening cooperation within the framework of the United Nations, the European Union and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe. Particular attention was paid to the significance of the creation of an inter-parliamentary friendship group in May of this year. 

The parties also noted the importance of strengthening the legal framework of bilateral ties, building up trade partnerships, intensifying business contacts and developing scientific and educational cooperation.

The other day it became known that the Government of Finland will provide support to Turkmenistan within the framework of strengthening the institutional capacity of the ombudsman’s office. The process will be implemented as part of a new UNDP project.
