Adoption of renewable energy technologies discussed in Tashkent

President Mirziyoyev reviewed the progress of the implementation of the programme for the adoption of renewable energy technologies.

On May 23, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the progress of the adoption of renewable energy technologies at social institutions and government agencies, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported.

In February, the programme aimed at accelerating the adoption of energy saving technologies was adopted at the initiative of the President. In accordance with the programme, the work is underway to install solar panels on the roofs of apartment houses and government buildings.

It is planned to install solar panels with a total capacity of 220 megawatts. As was reported during the presentation, solar panels with a total capacity of 107 megawatts have been installed across the country so far. The pace of installation work at government agencies is higher, while the programme is implemented at social institutions at a slower pace.

This year, it is planned to put into operation solar and wind power plants with a capacity of 2,000 MW as part of the strategy for promoting the expansion of renewable energy technologies in Uzbekistan. The agreements with Chinese partners on the construction of 11 more solar and wind power plants with a total capacity of 4.8 GW were reached. The issues related to the implementation of these agreements were discussed among others at the presentation.
