On March 28, Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov held talks with Chief Investment Officer of Templeton Global Equity Investments Manraj Sekhon, the press office of the Ministry reported.
The talks focused on the implementation of the agreements reached during the state visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Singapore this winter.
The interlocutors exchanged views on the prospects for attracting foreign investment to develop state-owned enterprises. They agreed to set up the National Investment Fund and noted that the nearest plans include the opening of a Franklin Templeton office in Tashkent. They considered placing shares of the National Investment Fund on the Toshkent Republican Stock Exchange.
Franklin Templeton specialists will visit Tashkent for consultations on the transformation and restructuring of state-owned enterprises in Uzbekistan.
In conclusion, the interlocutors agreed to set up a working group to implement the agreements reached and harmonised a roadmap for cooperation.
