Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviews progress of implementation of hydropower projects

The President was informed that Uzbekhydroenergo JSC plans to produce about 7 billion kilowatt-hours this year.

On March 17, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev led a meeting to review the progress of the fulfilment of the tasks of increasing the use of renewable energy. The Uzbek leader was informed about the ongoing work, including the plans of Uzbekhydroenergo to produce at least 7 billion kilowatt-hours in 2023, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported to CentralAsia.news.

The industry departments were tasked to design 36 medium- and large-scale hydropower plants on the sections of the Pskem, Naryn and Tupalang Rivers. Jointly with Uzbekistan’s business sector, it is planned to build 26 9MW micro hydropower plants. The participants discussed the construction of 3 23MW HPPs on the Big Andijan canal and a 16MW HPP on the Tupalang River.

Special attention was paid to the installation of 1,700MW solar panels on the territory of business entities, social facilities and households. Currently, the necessary measures are being taken in the regions.

Commenting on the report, the Uzbek leader instructed to step up this work and support the businessmen’s proposals and initiatives aimed promoting green energy.
