Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev meets with President of Turkey Erdogan

The leaders of the two states discussed aspects of cooperation during the visit of President Tokayev to Ankara to attend the Summit of the Organization of Turkic States.

On March 16, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev arrived in Ankara to attend the Extraordinary Summit of the Organization of Turkic States and held a meeting with President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the press office of the President of Kazakhstan reported.

The President of Kazakhstan extended his deep condolences to the President of Turkey over numerous victims of the devastating earthquake in the southeast of the country. He emphasised the importance of working together during emergencies. In this regard, the leader of Kazakhstan noted that the agenda of the Extraordinary Summit on emergency management and humanitarian assistance was relevant as never before.

Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev said Turkey is among the top five trade partners of Kazakhstan. Trade and economic cooperation between the two states demonstrates a stable growth from year to year. The President emphasised that Kazakhstan is ready to assist Turkey in implementing investment projects and expand cooperation with Turkey in the transport and logistics sectors.

President Erdogan confirmed that bilateral trade is steadily growing and emphasised the need to increase it to $10 billion by the end of the year.

The leaders of the two states discussed the prospects for bolstering cooperation in economy, transport, energy and regional and international politics.
