On March 15, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during his working visit to Turkey to attend the Extraordinary Summit of the Organization of Turkic States, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported.
The Uzbek leader extended his deep condolences to President Erdogan over numerous casualties and damage caused by the devastating earthquake in the southeastern provinces of Turkey. The President of Turkey thanked Uzbekistan for providing humanitarian aid and assistance in responding to the impacts of the natural disaster.
The leaders of the two states exchanged views on the ways of building up bilateral cooperation in key areas. They noted the growth in bilateral trade and investment and an increasing number of joint ventures. The joint projects in the power, agricultural, building material and light industries continue to be implemented.
The leaders of Uzbekistan and Turkey discussed the plan of upcoming bilateral events, including the preparations for a regular meeting of the Strategic Cooperation Council.
The ceremony of awarding the Dustlik Order to Vice-President of Turkey Fuat Oktay for his great contribution to Uzbekistan-Turkey cooperation took place.
