Kazakhstan and UN identify joint actions for 2023

A meeting on aspects of cooperation between Kazakhstan and the UN agencies took place in Astana.

On March 10, the Coordinating Committee of the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework for 2021-2025 held a regular meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic reported.

First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Kairat Umarov and UN Resident Coordinator in Kazakhstan Michaela Friberg-Storey chaired the meeting. The representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, government agencies and civil institutions attended the event.

Briefing those present on key aspects of the foreign policy strategy of Kazakhstan, including interaction with the UN and its structures, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasised that many initiatives put forward by Kazakhstan at the UN General Assembly were evaluated highly by the United Nations and successfully implemented.

The UN Resident Coordinator in Kazakhstan noted that the Republic has made significant progress over the past 30 years.

The UN officials in Kazakhstan reported on their work and informed of the plans of action for 2023. They discussed the implementation of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals and the programme of cooperation in promoting social, economic and political reforms launched at the initiative of the President of Kazakhstan.
