Uzbek rescuers return home from Turkey

A plane with 60 military servants, who had taken part in search and rescue operations in Turkey, landed in Tashkent.

The rescuers of the Ministry of Defence of Uzbekistan, who had taken part in search and rescue operations in Turkey hit by the devastating earthquake, returned to Tashkent, the press office of the Ministry reported. 

A delegation led by the Minister of Defence of Uzbekistan greeted the rescue team at Islam Karimov International Airport in the capital of Uzbekistan. Other ministry officials, members of the public organisations and journalists, greeted the military servants.

In accordance with the instructions of President of Uzbekistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the military servants of the Ministry of Defence arrived in Turkey on February 8. The rescue team consisted of 60 military servants; 3 special units were dispatched to Turkey.

For 24 days, the Uzbek rescuers assisted in clearing earthquake rubble, searching for and providing first aid to earthquake survivors in the provinces of Turkey affected by the natural disaster.

During almost a month, the Uzbek rescuers provided medical aid to almost 3,900 survivors, including 1,795 men, 1,177 women and 888 children.
