Kazakhstan and PRC to boost bilateral trade to $35 billion by 2030

The prospects for promoting cooperation in trade, investment, industry, energy, agriculture and other sectors were discussed.

On March 1, Chairman of the Government of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov held talks with Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Kazakhstan Zhang Xiao. The interlocutors discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, industry, energy, agriculture, transport and logistics, digital technologies and other areas, the press office of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan reported to CentralAsia.news.

Kazakhstan is ready to work towards boosting bilateral trade up to $35 billion by 2030, Smailov said.

«Our countries have significant capacities to supply agricultural commodities. Kazakhstani enterprises are willing to increase their food exports to China. In this regard, it is very important to continue to remove trade barriers and restrictions,» the Kazakh politician emphasised.

The Chinese diplomat said his country is interested in importing agricultural commodities from Kazakhstan, expanding rail transportation, promoting interregional collaboration and enhancing cooperation in the IT sector. He noted that today the People’s Republic of China provides support to Kazakhstani companies to enter its large trading platforms and market as a whole.

The two countries are planning to resume flights between Astana and Beijing with a frequency of 3 flights a week and simplify travel formalities for mutual trips of their citizens in the near future.
