Tokayev reviews social and economic development of Kazakhstan

The importance of tightening control over budget spending to achieve the strongest socio-economic effect was emphasised.

On February 27, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev received Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov, who reported on the social and economic development of Kazakhstan and the adjustments to the state budget for 2023. The President noted the importance of tightening control over budget spending to achieve the strongest socio-economic effect, the press office of Akorda reported to CentralAsia.news.

Smailov reported that it is planned to adjust budget spending by 2.2 trillion tenge through redistributing and boosting budget revenue. The budget adjustments will allow rising budget spending on the development of small and single-industry towns, the implementation of the Auyl-el Besigi project, gas supply to settlements, construction and repair of heating systems, food safety and employment creation in rural areas.

The Chairman of the Government noted that the funds would be embarked to build and reconstruct roads, upgrade the rolling stock and purchase new railroad passenger cars with the aim of developing transport and logistics infrastructures. It is planned to    finance major projects in the manufacturing industry, as well as earmark additional funds to improve the army and the conditions of military service with the aim of strengthening defence capabilities and security of the Republic.
