Tajikistan to host conference to mark 30th anniversary of International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea

The international forum is scheduled to take place on June 5-7.

The capital of the Republic of Tajikistan will host the international conference to mark the 30th anniversary of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS) on June 5-7. President of the Republic Emomali Rahmon approved the anniversary emblem of the international organisation, the press office of the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan reported to CentralAsia.news.

The delegations of different countries, including Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan, will attend the event. Participants will discuss topical issues concerning the protection of the Aral Sea. The IFAS Executive Committee is planning to hold a number of anniversary events.

In September, the leaders of the IFAS founding countries will meet on the platform of the 5th Consultative Meeting of the Heads of Central Asia.

The International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea was founded in 1993. This is a unique organisation and political platform that plays a major role in promoting and building up water cooperation among Dushanbe, Astana, Tashkent, Ashgabat and Bishkek.
