Saudi Arabia provides $1.5 million in humanitarian aid to Tajikistan

The funding will be allocated to support the families affected by natural disasters in GBAO.

The Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defence under the Cabinet of Ministers of Tajikistan and the Saudi delegation agreed that the King Salman Foundation will provide $1.5 million in humanitarian aid to the Republic, the press office of the Committee reported to CentralAsia.news.

The funding will be allocated to support the residents affected by natural disasters in Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region. As was reported, avalanches occurred in Khorog. Humanitarian aid will be provided to 12,000 families in need within six months of the year.

The representatives of the Committee and the Saudi delegation discussed the possibility of setting up a simulation and interactive learning centre at the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defence, purchasing rescuer equipment and taking measures to consolidate the coast in disaster-prone areas.

As was reported, in accordance with the instructions of President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, food, warm clothes and household items were provided to the families affected by natural disasters.
