Head of Global Green Growth Institute proposes to open office in Turkmenistan

Frank Rijsberman touched upon the topic at a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with the General Director of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) Frank Rijsberman. The head of the organization proposed to open a GGGI office in the Central Asian state. It was reported to CentralAsia.news by the press office of the Turkmen ministry.

Rijsberman noted the expediency of signing the «Host Country Agreement» between the Global Green Growth Institute and the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan. Meredov, in turn, noted the importance of further developing partnerships through the exchange of experience in the use of new technologies within green growth.

The minister said that Turkmenistan will continue to work on reducing methane emissions by increasing the volume of utilization of associated petroleum gas, and decreasing losses of natural gas during production, transportation, storage and processing.

Meredov proposed to develop joint projects to study the impact of the forest zones of Turkmenistan on the environment and improve forestry management.
