In Ashgabat, the head of the State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports of Turkmenistan Gulmyrat Agamyradov met with ambassador of Belarus Vyacheslav Beskosty. They discussed the cooperation of countries in sports. It was reported to CentralAsia.news by the press office of the Belarusian department.
Attention was paid to various aspects of partnership within mutual interest. The emphasis was placed on the participation of Turkmen athletes in the second Games of the CIS countries. International competitions, including 21 sports, will be held in all regions of Belarus on August 4-14.
For 11 months of last year, Turkmen athletes won 383 medals at the international competitions.
In 2021, the national team of Turkmenistan took part in the 32nd Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo. Weightlifter Polina Guryeva won a silver medal in the women’s 59 kg competition. This is the first Olympic medal in the history of Turkmenistan.
