Kazakhstan to fully upgrade industry structure

The Chairman of the Government joined a discussion of the draft Industry Development Concept for 2023-2029.

On February 11, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov held a regular government meeting. The participants discussed the draft Industry Development Concept for 2023-2029, noting that it aims to fundamentally transform the industry structure with the processing sector to play a key role, the press office of the Government of Kazakhstan reported to CentralAsia.news.

Minister of Industry Marat Karabayev said the main goal of the draft Concept is to build a technologically advanced industry focused on the production of the goods of medium and upper redistribution.

The Minister noted that the industry would develop through such systemic measures as securing supplies of key raw materials, developing new deposits, strengthening industrial infrastructure and creating a belt of SMEs around large enterprises.

The draft Concept envisages earmarking more than 500 billion tenge for projects in Kazakhstan’s processing sector. In the reporting period, it is expected to launch 868 new projects worth 33.1 trillion tenge that will create 147,000 new jobs.

Once implemented, the planned measures are expected to cause real output to rise by 1.5 times and capital investment to increase up to 19.8 trillion tenge in 2029.
