Recently, the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan announced the state olympiad to identify the best scholars in foreign languages. The competition will be attended by students of short-term courses at small educational centers.In Turkmenistan, in addition to school education, it is widely popular among young citizens to attend additional classes at the corresponding centers. Today, there are dozens of such educational platforms in the country. The olympiad that is going to be held at national scale is aimed at determining the «best of the best» among the students.
Correspondent of Central Asia.news from Ashgabat met with Kakajan Agajikov, the head of one of these centers — the general director of the «Gujurly bilim merkezi» company. He commented on the upcoming competition and spoke about the work of the educational center.
Please tell us about the positive sides of the upcoming competition?
— The arrangement of the olympiad in foreign languages is of great importance, because its results will substantively demonstrate the results of our work, the increased efforts of children and the teachers. Nine of our students will take part in the competition. The upcoming knowledge assessment will evaluate the potential of children in English and Russian.
The language competition was initiated by our institution and other centers. In this regard, I would like to express gratitude to the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan for the support and assistance provided.
What programs does your center offer? How many students do you have? Is there something you are really proud of?
— Our center has many educational programs, mainly humanitarian. The most popular are English classes. Due to the development of technologies, we have introduced the course in exact sciences. These are IT, mathematics, chemistry and physics. There are a lot of people who want to deepen their knowledge in these disciplines. Currently, 1800 students learn various programs at our center.
Now a lot of young people who have already graduated from high school and finished our courses are studying at prestigious universities in our country and abroad. According to special state programs, they study in Russia, Japan, Canada, South Korea, Romania and a number of other countries.
What are the criteria for hiring teachers?
— Teachers are employed under the conditions of a thorough analysis of their profile level. Every 3-4 months, we hold special seminars for teachers to check and improve their knowledge, due to the fact that modern science does not stand still, and is developing dynamically. It should be noted that the success of children largely depends on their teachers, and the harmony that they can create in the system of relations «student-teacher».
Tell us about the plans and development of public directions?
— Speaking about plans, I would like to inform you that we are currently preparing the most gifted children to participate in the International Mathematical Olympiad, which is scheduled for this year. In addition, the guys regularly participate in international online competitions in physics and chemistry, which helps them master these subjects better.
At the same time, we constantly organize talent shows where the guys compete in vocal skills and demonstrate other useful skills. The purpose of such events is to instill in children a sense of social community so that in the future they can express their thoughts, ideas or interesting initiatives without difficulties.
In conclusion, the Olympiad in Foreign Languages will be a significant contribution to the consistent implementation of the general state concept of bringing up an educated, comprehensively developed and patriotic young generation.
