On February 3, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov and Chairman of the Government of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov discussed the promotion of trade, economic, transit, transport, industrial, water and energy cooperation on the sidelines of the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Almaty, the press office of the Government of Kazakhstan reported to CentralAsia.news.

“With the aim of fulfilling the tasks set at the highest level, we need to increase bilateral trade to $10 billion in the medium term. In this regard, the Government of Kazakhstan is ready to foster a dialogue in all areas of our cooperation,” Smailov emphasised.

The Kazakh politician noted that the timely implementation of the roadmaps signed last year and the intensification of activities of the Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan Intergovernmental Commission will contribute to strengthening bilateral relations.

Aripov emphasised the importance of close cooperation in agriculture and the transport and logistics industry, in particular in creating new transport corridors. He highly evaluated direct contacts between the regions of the two countries that enable to fully implement the existing potential of partnerships between the two fraternal peoples.
