President of Uzbekistan orders an allocation of 12 trillion soums to support family businesses

The Republic will scale up the fight against poverty and unemployment.

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed the government officials to allocate 12 trillion soums in soft loans to support family businesses. The Republic is set to significantly enhance support for families, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported to CentralAsia.news.

Assistance to small businesses and unemployment and poverty issues were discussed at the government meeting held via videoconference. The authorities intend to increase financial support for the population. The initiative, which will help reduce unemployment and significantly improve the standard of living of citizens of the country, are to be launched.

Mirziyoyev emphasised the progress in reducing unemployment in 2022, noting that the unemployment rate sank from 17% to 14%. However, some regions of the country are falling behind in positive changes. In this regard, the authorities are considering supporting small businesses and creating new jobs.

Highlighting the importance of working towards developing agriculture, the President proposed considering it a source of employment. According to statistics, organisational efficiency at the local level is not high, and crops are often grown not on plantations. The President instructed that new areas be allocated in the territories that will be convenient for the population and used to grow most in-demand crops.
