1 GW wind farm to be built in Kazakhstan

The President discussed with the Masdar delegation the implementation of the joint energy project.

On January 17, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev met with CEO of Masdar Mohamed Al Ramahi. The interlocutors considered the implementation of a joint energy project, the press office of the President of Kazakhstan reported to CentralAsia.news.

Tokayev emphasised that Kazakhstan has set the goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2060, as well as increasing the percentage of renewable energy sources from 4 to 15% by 2030.

The Kazakh leader expressed belief that the agreement on cooperation between the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan Investment Development Fund and Masdar would be implemented in full. The bilateral document envisages building a 1 GW wind farm in Turkestan and Zhambyl Regions of the Republic.

The CEO of Masdar thanked the President of Kazakhstan for the opportunity to meet and said Kazakhstan has the high potential to develop green energy. Also, he expressed interest in the joint implementation of large-scale energy projects.
