President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and Kyrgyz leader Sadyr Japarov had a telephone conversation marking the 30th anniversary of diplomatic cooperation between the republics. The interlocutors discussed the current level of interstate relations and the demarcation of the common border, the press office of the President of Tajikistan reported to CentralAsia.news.
The leaders of the two states noted that from 1993 to January 14, 2023, the countries have achieved positive results in the political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian sectors.
They agreed that all issues should be resolved exclusively by peaceful means, in the spirit of friendship and good neighbourliness. The two leaders paid particular attention to the demarcation of the common border, noting that currently the demarcated line is about 625 kilometres. Another 359 kilometres of the common border need to be agreed on.
The two leaders exchanged the messages of congratulations before the telephone conversation. In his message, Rahmon expressed belief that Tajikistan-Kyrgyzstan relations contribute to maintaining peace and stability in Central Asia.
