Representatives of Kyrgyzstan and European Union discuss prospects for furthering contacts

The EU Special Representative for Central Asia congratulated Aydit Erkin on the beginning of his mission in Brussels.

On January 12, newly appointed Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the European Union Aydit Erkin met with EU Special Representative for Central Asia Terhi Hakala. The interlocutors discussed the prospects for enhancing cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the EU countries, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan reported.

The interlocutors discussed a wide range of aspects of bilateral and regional cooperation, specified the plans for 2023 and exchanged views on the prospects for enhancing cooperation in all areas.

Aydit Erkin informed his interlocutor about the current socio-economic situation, ongoing reforms and initiatives of the leadership of Kyrgyzstan. The Kyrgyz side paid special attention to environmental and green economy initiatives.

The Permanent Representative focused on the recent appeal of President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov on green economy and environmental challenges to partners and international financial development institutions. 

Hakala congratulated Erkin on the beginning of his mission and wished him every success in implementing all his plans.
