Documents on rehabilitation of victims of repression presented to President of Kazakhstan

The materials for the 31st volume were collected by a special group of prominent scientists and experts.

On January 12, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev met with State Counsellor Erlan Karin. He reported on the work done by the state commission for rehabilitation of victims of political repression, the press office of Akorda reported to CentralAsia.news.

He noted that the commission performs exclusively scientific and research functions. The special group consists of prominent specialists from the scientific and expert organisations. The commission has done a tremendous work in the archives of the country, studying the restricted documents.

Erlan Karin reported that jointly with the interested government agencies, the commission is currently engaged to declassify departmental document repositories and study the materials containing information on the cases of citizens to be rehabilitated.

The culmination of this large-scale work was a collection of historical documents and records on various categories of victims of repression, which were compiled into the 31st volume. This multi-volume book was presented to the President.

This year, the commission will continue to look for evidence of innocence of the repressed persons, digitize archival documents and build digital libraries.
