Prime Minister of Kazakhstan sets priority tasks for 2023

The emphasis was placed on the effective work on the new Tax Code.

On January 11, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov held a government meeting to review the results of Kazakhstan’s social and economic development in 2022 and discuss the plans for the current year, the press office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported.

The Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers set the priority tasks, including the consistent modernization of the infrastructural potential of the housing and communal service sector. He instructed that effective measures be taken to reduce depreciation of electricity, heat and water supply networks. The priority tasks include the implementation of the Tariff for Investment concept.

The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of the work on the new Tax Code. The Code is to simplify the legislation and give a positive impetus to increase production, spur investment, introduce innovations and expand employment opportunities for citizens.

In this context, Alikhan Smailov focused on the effective development of the new Budget Code. He emphasised the need to boost financial discipline, ensure transparency in the budget mechanism and improve the efficiency of public spending. The Prime Minister noted that independence of the heads of central and local executive bodies needs to be achieved as part of improving this sector.
