Truck driver gets stuck in snow on Shymkent highway for 6 days

A car carrier trailer got stuck on the 797 km section of the Samara-Shymkent highway. The driver is a citizen of Kyrgyzstan.

On January 9, the brigade of police officers and Kazavtozhol JSC employees released from the ice clamp a Volvo truck that had run off the road into a ditch. The driver remained in a fixed state for almost a week during severe frosts, the press office of the police of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported.

The «head» and car carrier trailer got stuck on the 797 km section of the Samara-Shymkent highway. A citizen of Kyrgyzstan drove the trailer. He failed to pull a multi-tonne colossus out of the ditch on his own.

Frosty weather prevails in Kazakhstan now, and the temperature drops to 30 degrees below zero. The driver spent 6 days in the difficult situation. The regional police officers rescued him and provided support in time. Before the special vehicle arrived, they provided the foreign driver with the necessities and food.

As reported, 122 highway sections have been closed throughout the country due to bad weather, snowstorms, sleet and poor visibility; 14 people, including children, were rescued from snow traps on the roads.
