The Minister of Energy of Kyrgyzstan said preparations for the construction have been launched.

On January 6, the energy ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan signed a joint construction plan of Kamba-Ata HPP-1. Minister of Energy of Kyrgyzstan Taalaibek Ibraev, Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Bolat Akchulakov and Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan Zhurabek Mirzamakhmudov signed the document, the press office of the Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan reports.

The Ministry informed that the commissioning date of Kambar-Ata HPP-1 will be set up after a feasibility study is done. Ibraev noted that preparations for the construction of Kambar-Ata HPP-1 have been launched.

«We can say that the construction of Kambar-Ata HPP-1 brings benefit to the three neighbouring countries, especially to Kyrgyzstan. Our country should become a country that does not import electricity, but, on the contrary, exports it,» the Kyrgyz side said.

As was reported, President Sadyr Japarov officially launched the construction project of Kambar-Ata HPP-1 on June 8, 2022. The hydroelectric power plant will be built on the Naryn River in Toktogul district, Jalal-Abad Region, 25 km upstream from the Toktogul water storage reservoir.
