Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan discusses efforts toward WMD non-proliferation

Preparatory work for Kazakhstan’s chairmanship in the Third Meeting of the States Parties of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons was considered.

On December 27, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mukhtar Tleuberdi chaired the 19th meeting of the Commission on the Non-Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction under President of Kazakhstan, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic reported to CentralAsia.news.

The Commission is responsible for coordinating the work of the government agencies towards fulfilling the international commitments on the non-proliferation of nuclear, chemical and biological weapons and implementing the international initiatives put forward by the country’s leadership in this sphere.

The participants focused on strengthening biological security of the Republic and preparatory work for Kazakhstan’s chairmanship in the Third Meeting of the States Parties of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons.

The heads of ministries and departments reported on the fulfilment of the instructions given at the previous meeting to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and specified the future tasks.
