Tajikistan-Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship Group to hold consultation

Rahmon and the Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan discussed further cooperation in promising areas.

On December 15, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan Sadiq Sanjrani in Islamabad. The interlocutors highly evaluated the activities of the Tajikistan-Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship Group, noting the importance of holding expanded consultation on pressing issues of regional peace and security, the press office of the President of Tajikistan reported to CentralAsia.news.

«Inter-parliamentary cooperation between Tajikistan and Pakistan is an effective tool to strengthen bilateral relations and ensure the interests of states at the regional and global level,» the Tajik leader emphasised, noting the significant role of parliaments in fostering a political dialogue between the two countries.

Exchanging views on the role of Tajikistan and Pakistan in the implementation of the CASA-1000 project, bilateral cooperation on energy, sustainable water resources management, green energy transition and expansion of interstate partnerships in the trade, economic, transport, investment, cultural, humanitarian and health sectors, the interlocutors focused on the approaches to enhancing the role of parliaments in deepening bilateral relations in these areas.

The interlocutors paid special attention to regional and global security issues, in particular counteraction to terrorism, extremism and climate change, prevention of conflict escalation, information confrontation and cybercrime, as well as prevention of infectious diseases and economic and social development in these conditions.
