Bishkek urges EU countries to simplify visa regime for Kyrgyz citizens

The Chairman of the Government highly evaluated the dynamics of the development of bilateral cooperation and interregional contacts with the EU countries.

On December 15, Chairman of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic, Head of the President’s Office Akylbek Japarov met with Ambassador, Head of Delegation of the European Union to Kyrgyzstan Marilyn Josefson. The Prime Minister highly evaluated the current level of Kyrgyzstan-EU cooperation, the press office of the Government of Kyrgyzstan reports.

«The dynamics of the development of bilateral cooperation and interregional contacts is qualitatively increasing every year, and the commodity turnover between Kyrgyzstan and the EU countries is growing. We are ready to further deepen and expand mutually beneficial cooperation with the EU countries,» Japarov said.

The Chairman of the Government also touched on the issues of visa facilitation and employment of Kyrgyz citizens in the EU countries.

Japarov said the Kyrgyz side is interested in further enhancing cooperation with the countries of the region and the European Union on direct investment in the energy sector, the construction of hydroelectric power plants and renewable energy production.

The EU Ambassador stressed her readiness to continue to promote bilateral relations.
