A large-scale exhibition of carpets, jewelry and national costumes was held in the Avaza tourist zone in Turkmenistan. The event was timed to coincide with the first Summit of the Presidents of Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Turkey. It was reported by the electronic newspaper «Golden Age».The exhibits included a unique woolen carpet. The thing that makes it unique is the fact that one of its square meter has 1 million 335 thousand knots. As part of the event, the guests were shown a kurte (one of the varieties of a cape robe), which was created by Ogulabat eje, the grandmother of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
Visitors to the exhibition also had the opportunity to complete the finished carpet by cutting off the last knots. After that, a show of Turkmen national clothes took place.
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization inscribed the Turkmen-style needlework in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
