Kazakhstan to manufacture train carriages from local raw materials

The Kazakhstan-Switzerland project was presented to Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev

On December 14, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev received President of the Board of Directors of Stadler Rail AG (Switzerland) Peter Spuhler. The interlocutors discussed the implementation stages of a joint project that envisages manufacturing train carriages in Kazakhstan, the press office of Akorda reported to CentralAsia.news. 

The guest presented the company’s plans on technical re-equipment and modernisation of the railway carriage plant, the use of local aluminium and the establishment of a full production cycle. The businessman said his company is ready to progressively increase the level of localization to 35% by 2030 and forward these products to export deltas.

The talks focused on the approaches to setting up training sites for local young specialists. The company intends to open specialized training centres and interact with the colleges and universities in Kazakhstan through exchanging experience and expertise, Peter Spuhler said. 

In conclusion, the President of Kazakhstan expressed belief that the work on the joint project contributes to intensifying constructive trade and economic partnerships between Kazakhstan and Switzerland.
