Tajikistan to spend $2 billion on green economy

The funds will be spent in 2023-2037.

A meeting on the development of a green economy in the Republic of Tajikistan took place in Dushanbe. Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade Vasidiyon Farkhad Sadullo was the main speaker, the press office of the Ministry reported to CentralAsia.news.

He emphasised that on the instructions of the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, about 21.6 billion somoni, or over $2.1 billion, would be spent on the green growth strategy in the Republic in 2023-2037.

Sadullo noted that investment support from financial institutions and development partners will play a key role in this process. The green growth strategy envisages conducting institutional reforms, ensuring the efficient use of natural resources, stepping up investments from partners and enhancing partnerships at the international level.

The green growth strategy is integrated with the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework in Tajikistan for 2023-2026.
