Kazakhstan to facilitate mechanism for allocating fish farming zones

The Chairman of the Government instructed the relevant organisations to support business initiatives.

On December 6, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov considered the ways to enhance productive capacities of Kazakhstan’s fishing industry at the government meeting, the press office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported to CentralAsia.news.

Alikhan Smailov noted that the Fisheries Development Programme has given a positive impetus to increase fish production over the past three years. Supportive measures have allowed doubling the number of fish farming businesses. The export of fish and fish products, including to the EU countries, has increased by 13%, and fish production has grown by 12% compared to 2021, the Prime Minister emphasised.

Speaking about the lagging regions, the Prime Minister noted that Atyrau, Karaganda, Almaty and Pavlodar Regions show unsatisfactory results. The Chairman of the Government instructed the authorities of these regions to speed up the implementation of the production plans and support business initiatives.

He highlighted the need to give incentives to entrepreneurs engaged in breeding and rearing fish in artificial and natural basins. In this regard, the Prime Minister set the tasks to intensify approaches to attract investment and simplify the procedure for allocating the plots for new fish farms.
