Direct passenger flight between Astana and Ankara launched

A commencement ceremony, involving representatives of the two states, was held to celebrate the inaugural flight in the air harbour of the capital of Kazakhstan.

On December 5, a commencement ceremony was held to celebrate the inaugural flight connecting the capitals of Kazakhstan and Turkey at Astana Airport in accordance with the strategy for expanding the geography of aviation cooperation and the tasks to increase the number of international flights, the Civil Aviation Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of Kazakhstan reported.

The flights will be operated by the Turkish low-cost carrier AnadoluJet that is fully owned by Turkish Airlines, the national flag carrier airline of Turkey.

Chairman of the Civil Aviation Committee Talgat Lastaev, Ambassador of Turkey to Kazakhstan Ufuk Ekici, AnadoluJet Marketing and Sales Manager Ahmet Yildiz and President of Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport JSC Daulet Khamzin attended the ceremony.

From now on, everyone has the opportunity to use the new services 2 times a week. Flights will be performed with the B-737 aircrafts. The first flights have brought 140 passengers to Astana and 157 passengers to Ankara.
