The leader of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in Doha. The key topic of bilateral negotiations was the opening of a Turkmen diplomatic mission in the capital of this Middle Eastern country, as reported by «Turkmenistan: Golden Age».
The parties stressed that the opening of the diplomatic mission of Turkmenistan in Qatar will further strengthen interstate cooperation. The interlocutors also discussed promising areas of cooperation in energy, economy, trade. They noted that the countries have huge reserves of hydrocarbon resources.
In addition, representatives of the two states drew attention to the cultural and historical community of peoples. In this context, they considered issues related to the development of relations in the humanitarian field. At the end of the meeting, Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani confirmed their mutual readiness to realize the great potential of partnership for the benefit of both countries.
As part of the visit, Serdar Berdimuhamedov attended a football match of the one eighth of World Cup, which is taking place in Qatar. There the Turkmen leader met with the head of FIFA Gianni Infantino. They touched upon the topic of consolidating efforts for the promotion of football at the international level.
