President of Uzbekistan meets with Chairman of RF State Duma

Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Viacheslav Volodin considered building up bilateral cooperation in key areas.

On November 28, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the Russian delegation headed by Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported.

The talks focused on the ways of deepening strategic Uzbekistan-Russia partnerships and interaction in the trade, economic, political, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

The parties noted that the heads of chambers and parliamentary committees of the two countries had held meetings in the regions of Uzbekistan and Russia, which contributed to enhancing inter-parliamentary cooperation, and emphasised that the newly established Inter-Parliamentary Commission on Cooperation would strengthen partnerships in the legislative area.

The participants noted the progress of trade and economic partnerships, including the growth in commodity turnover since the beginning of 2022, and the active part of Russian companies in the implementation of projects in Uzbekistan in the oil and gas, energy, mining and metallurgical industries and agriculture. Cooperation in culture, education and tourism demonstrates positive dynamics.

Viacheslav Volodin and members of the Russian delegation highly evaluated ongoing reforms in the economic, social and public life of Uzbekistan.
